Michigan Grand Tournament 2013

Just made it in to the hotel a few minutes ago. Now psycho-squire is trying to finish painting his army.  I came to watch him see if he can win a few games. But at this rate he might not get the army completely assembled, let alone painted. He has less then 4 hours to complete. It is down to the last few quick paint strokes and glued limbs. I am not sure if he can pull this out his ass. I will try to update later. It bed time for me and glue sniffing for him.

Adepticon 2013 38 days and counting

So, it is getting close to that time of the year. I am not sure what I plan on taking with me. There is a chance for a Nurgle vs Space puppies grudge match, with a old friend of mine {Dave the Destroyer}. But, I have made a good blood angle jump army. If he goes it will be his first year. So, I am inclined to take an army he would like to play against.
I am not sure if psychosquire is coming with yet. He pops up close to the con and gives little notice. He is sneaky like that. He most likely will bring a eldar/dark eldar list. I have play against it and got destroyed by it. I played nurgle and his Harley/HQ unit is a beast.
Perv goat may also show up, if his work schedule clears up. This would be his first time also. We may get a few Malifaux games in I hope to get a few more models painted by then. If I am lucky, I hope to get another 40k game against him. We have played a game last month and he beat me but it was very tight. We played at the Battle Bunker and everyone was commenting on his old minis (2nd edition). It was great to see all the players giving their respect.
I wish my buddy Ozzy could go for at least a day. He is a big Warmahoard player. I think he would get a kick out of it. But he has a hard work schedule.
Well, I guess we will see who goes as we get closer.

What firefly the board Game?

Firefly: The Game, players captain their own Firefly-class transport ship, traveling the ‘Verse with a handpicked crew of fighters, mechanics and other travelers. As a captain desperate for work, players are compelled to take on any job -- so long as it pays. Double-dealing employers, heavy-handed Alliance patrols and marauding Reavers are all in a day’s work for a ship’s captain at the edge of the ‘Verse. Firefly: The Game is a high-end thematic tabletop boardgame from Gale Force Nine (GF9). It will be the first in a series of tabletop hobby boardgames and miniatures games from GF9 set in the Firefly Universe.
I loved the show and GF9 did great with Sparticus (I bought a copy). So this might make it home. Also notice they said minitures games??????  I hope they trial it at Adepticon.

Beast-Captain Torgo: AdeptiCon 2013 Sci-fi Model

February 09th, 2013 |

Torgo is one of a line of genetic experiments known as Broolians, the product of an insane experiment by the mad geneticists of the planet Broolia. The so-called Broolian Beastmen first saw service as mercenaries in the service of several stellar empires and have now fought in countless warzones across the Orion-Cygnus Spur.

Beast-Captain Torgo insists on taking the same risks as his beast-brothers, and so is ever to be found at the forefront of the battle. He wields the same flame thrower he as carried since his earliest days of service, unwilling to take up a weapon others might think more suitable to the commander a successful and feared mercenary force. In battle, Torgo is as ferocious and savage as all his kin, eschewing subtlety as soon as the bullets start flying and the charge is called. Few can stand up to such a charge, for the Broolians of Beast-Captain Torgo fight not for wealth, but for the sheer, savage joy that was seeded in their bestial hearts by the insane geneticists of the planet Broolia.

Direct from Victoria Miniatures, Beast-Captain Torgo will be found lurking the swag bags of the first 2000 preregistered attendees with an AdeptiCon 2013 Weekend Badge! Bring a leash!

I am so glad I got my ticket it is a perfect cultist with a flamer. What do you think of it?

Adepticon 2012 38 Days away (Please Hurry)

So, my plan was to complete an army just for open games at Adepticon. Well, I did it 1505pt. Blood Angel  Jump pack heavy army. I played it at Chicago Battle bunker against a daemon army. I didn't win but it was close. I would like to adjust it a little. I used Dante and the Sanguinator I think it is alittle much.
So, the Swag Bag news looks good. Blue Table Painting is putting up templates. The first 500 people to go through registration get a battle foam bag. Last year I got a starter box of Warmachine that paid for the ticket, not to mention the novels and t-shirts that came in the bag.
I am also looking forward to the bits sales and the nightly swap-o-rama deals galore. Yes, Forgeworld will be there. I wonder what the con limited edition model will be. I will try to post about the Con as much as possible. I plan on buying alot of cool stuff. Let me know what you want me to post about.

I do not compete in the tournaments but I love to watch and shop the bits shopping is so much fun. The restaurants in the area are great, Uncle Bubs BBQ, Fudruckers, and a slew of others. Pre Gen Con 2011

So I got my hotel planned "Westin". I got my work set to let me off,  2 16 hours shifts  and an eight hour quick return to a regular shift. I might be tired, but I will there.
Malifaux shopping is high on the list. The War store is great usually 20 percent off. There are so many great vendors.  I can not wait for the new vendors to show off there wares. I hope to post  alot as I go through the hall.

Origins 2011: Less Geek Grease and Nicer People

So, I went Origins for one day (Saturday). I payed $5.00 to get  the general watcher admission. This allowed me to walk around and buy stuff. The Vendor hall was about half the size of Gen Con. There are good things about a small con; Less geek grease, more demo spaces, and less people slamming into you. Bad things about smaller cons: less cool costumes, less vendors, less demo games.
I got a chance to watch the Origins 40k Tournament. Most of the guys seemed to be sportsman, but I did hear of at least one person quitting early in the tournament because of having a losing streak. The models in the games were not all painted and few eye popping conversion if any. I did love the fact that Necrons were shown some love. I did not stay  to see who won. I might try to compete next year. I recommend people entering if they go, it not adepticon so newer players won't be intimidated.
As for the shopping, the fiend got two good condition AD&D 2nd ed books (Master & Players book) for like 18 bucks. He also got shirts that I wouldn't wear in public ( M&M S&M shirt, and others). I only bought two things a foam chain sword ( Great looking people love it at the 40K area.) and an inflatable  20 sided die for Hut Tub role playing(still working out some kinks).
I still plan on hitting Gen Con.
So Go to origins at least once it is fun.

Origins

I have been looking at going to Origins for the first time, it looks like it would be about a 4+ hour drive. This is in the possible planning process. I would love to troll through the vendors hall.

Adepticon Madness

So I am working ovetime tomorrow with a quick return to cover the con. First the hotel room $380 or so, $40 ticket (1, girlfriend not getting one), Gas (prices are to high to guess), Food (Fuddruckers, Giordonos Pizza, Harry Carry's (Steak Good), Bona Beef, there are so many I can't write them all). and the elephant in the room Forgeworld(on hand no wait, oooohhhh the drool is slipping from my mouth).
I hope to get a few games in with the fiend as he plans on going. I am setting up to add a 6th bike to my nurgle army and a rhino (green stuff all over it).

I hope to film the con to post. It is off to painting I go.

C2E2: Darleks and Dames

I went to the con for a day and that was enough.  The vendor show was small but had quality products. I had fun, but it was not a three day event. I went with my friends but we split up as soon as we got there. So much for quality time with friends. As we age we tend to go our separate ways to meet our own needs. Mine was to hang with friends as I am not a hugh comic book geek. I at least got to eat lunch with one of my friends the fiend (cant find a better nick name, still).
The costumes from the cosplayers were cool. I have added a few pics. The fiend loved the  Harly pic.
I liked Miss Marvel more (yes it is a lighting bolt, not a S.)  The pic did not do justice.
The dalek was an ironside from the WWII Dr Who Episode.  That was a great suprise as I love the who. I lost a pic of the David Tennant look alike ( Damn the Master's time vortex image distorter).
Where else can you get costumed women and Killer Robots.

Pre c2e2 40k Game prep

The friends are preparing for the night before c2e2. Three of them are staying at my place. I got a new wireless printer set up, updated Army Builder(must have love it) and prepped stuffed shells(I cook good).
The gang wants to play a 40k game, so I am loaning out my necerons to my friend Oz. He is getting back into the game after losing his mind to Hoards and Warmachine (Poor fool returns to the loving arms of GW wallet opens). My other fiend (ok Friend) is playing Blood Angels razor spam and death star his a major power gamer. I might hit nurgle or guard or maybe tzeench or Khorne possibilities are end less.
I hope the game will start a good weekend for c2e2.

C2E2 Trip Prep/ Girlfiend Rules

I am prepping for the trip to C2E2. As with all trips I take, I always want to schedule my time, so to get the most out of the trip. I am taking the train from Indiana to Chicago. My girlfriend is going and hopefully a few of my friends will go ( They try but money is always tight).
When I plan con trips, I start with transport (train Check), then tickets (Ordering tonight Check), Next planning departure time ( early due to train schedule), Food ( bottle water in backpack, snack ands such, Girlfriend packs, Love you) I have yet to find a place near the site to eat (Please post places if u know any.), finally what to wear (jeans and whatever shirt my girl throws at me).
Now this is for a one day event but when I hit adepticon for 3 days, well the girlfriend needs the hot tub (love the tub, and the 80's too) after running around mostly setting every thing up. Don't get me wrong I  pay for the hotel and tickets and do do some of the work but she really deserves most the credit. I hope to find her something shiny or at least walking dead related she loves the walking dead.
I hope to have fun and hang with friends.

C2E2 and Geek Grease

I am going to C2E2 for the first time. My close friend told me about it. I am not much into autographs, but I miss spending time with friends. I hope to have plenty of info to post from this trip. I worked OT to cover the trip.

I am a t-shirt lover so I plan to buy a few. I hope to find a new firefly shirt. I can't wait to run through the vendor hall and pick up odds and ends.

Every thing I have seen on the net shows C2E2 to be a lesser con then Chicago Comic con in August.  But lesser cons have smaller crowds most times, so that is a plus especially when you have to smell geek grease or nerd stink.
Gen Con has the the biggest geek grease you have smelled. It is understandable some people drive many hours in a car stuff full of as many like minded people as can fit. Then they crowd into the halls and play games late into the night. Afterwards they sleep on floors in hotel rooms to save money. They wake up later then expected, with 4-5 guys trying to trying to hit the showers in time to make the hall it never works. Also how muck clothes can u pack in an Escort full of Gamer?  Dice and books or deoderant and clothes???
I speak from knowledge I drove the escort. We had 6 people in it and one guy smelled before got into the car for the three hour plus trip. All of us slept in one room (I got the bed, Ha ha luck of the gods). I at least bathed but even I got ripe. So beware the creeping death and and remember no matter how long ago it was, you most likely were down on your luck without much money and did what u had to to get to the Con!!!!
